Meet Chris
I’ve lived south of the river most of my life. I grew up in Apple Valley, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Minnesota State University Mankato as a student athlete on the basketball team, and an MBA from Capella University. I eventually moved back to the area and settled my family in Eagan in 2014. My wife Natalie and I have two sons currently enrolled in District 196 and have benefitted greatly from our public school system. After seeing the continued economic growth and strong educational results from the district, I knew that calling Eagan ‘Home’ was going to be an easy decision, and I am driven to give back to this community.
As the proud son of a unionized school educator in District 196, I understand the value of public education as well as the importance of our essential educators. My mother, Mary Whitfield was very involved in the teacher’s union, and has instilled in me the values necessary to collaborate with teachers and labor unions to provide the best possible education for our children. I am fully dedicated to working with teachers and labor unions to achieve necessary wins for workers’ rights.
I have always sought out opportunities to give back to my community. As the Secretary on the Advisory Planning Commission for the City of Eagan since 2021, I take pride in listening to members of the community to truly understand their concerns at a local level. I have also held the position of Communications Officer for the local DFL senate district. This has helped me to be a strong voice for the local constituents, and to bring a wealth of experience to the state level.
